This past weekend we held our client appreciation event at Green Acres farm corn maze in western Ogden, Utah. We try to hold these events at least once a year and this year we selected this location for our event. There are a few reasons we hold these events. First, we hold these because we love our clients and care about their families and want to stay in touch with each of them. These events allow us to meet with them in a friendly, low-key way and check in with them and see how they are doing. Second, we want to let them know that we appreciate them trusting us with, what is for most people, their family's most expensive purchase. We do not take this trust lightly and we want to provide an event where our clients can enjoy a break from life and have some fun. Lastly, and the reason I want to focus on for the rest of this post, we want to live our message of "Live where you love. Love where you live." by helping connect our clients with events happening in their communities.

Real estate work is most rewarding when we get to see people who we care about earn a slice of the American Dream by owning their own home and raising their family there. What will make the American Dream most rewarding to these new homeowners, however, is learning to be a part of the community. In many ways the COVID pandemic accelerated the problem of isolation that many had been experiencing. However, this problem was already on the rise. Long gone are the days of everyone attending the local county fair. Long gone are the days of frequent block parties in your neighborhood. While I write these words, there may be some who think to themselves, "We still do those things where I live." If so, that is great! We are happy to hear it! However, your experience is becoming more and more unique as the years roll on. For our mission we want to reverse this trend. We want people to feel connected to their communties. There is something good and healthy about seeing people that live near you engaged in wholesome activity, laughing and smiling and talking with each other. Put another way, imagine 2 options. One, the American Dream of owning a home where everyone lives in their own atomized world and never interacts with one another. Or two, the American Dream of owning a home where everyone lives in a connected world of concern and service, helping one another through the trials of life. Again, some may prefer option one. However, for our mission and purpose in real estate work for our clients, it is going to be unapologetically option 2.
